Jim was raised in Missouri and left to join the United States Air Force. After his active duty time, he was hired by the airlines and worked for Northwest Airlines retiring as a Boeing 747 Captain. He thoroughly enjoyed his 38 1/2 year career…he says he never had to go to work a day in his life! Upon his retirement, he volunteers his time and his airplane flying by rescuing animals for Pilots N Paws. Jim completed the Citizen’s Academy at the police department and met many of the police officers. This is where he formed the idea of putting together a concert to benefit the officers’ children. When he asked Janine, his wife, if she would help, she said yes with one change….add the fire department to the mix. Thus, the Germantown First Responders Scholarship Fund was formed.
Janine is a former teacher having both her education degrees from The University of Memphis. She taught Organizational Training and later went into sales. She is involved with other very giving organizations such as Les Passees and Carnival Memphis.
The Carney’s agree it is nice to be at a point in their lives when they can give back to their community. What better group to help but the people we depend on in our greatest hour of need?
